Write your book · Pastors · Coaches · Anyone with one in them

You've been meaning to write it for years.

Ninety days from now it can be on Amazon, with your name on the cover and your voice on every page. You talk. I draw it out. We edit it together until you'd hand it to your mother. Then we ship it.

I wrote Seventy Times Seven the slow way, on nights and weekends, with a full-time job and a lot of false starts. I know exactly where a book dies: the outline you never finish, the chapter three you rewrite six times, the Sunday you decide it can wait another year. Thirty years of listening to people for a living taught me how to pull the real thing out of someone in a conversation. That is what this is. You already have the book. It's in your sermons, your notes, your story, or your quiet time. I help you get it out and onto paper.

Who this is for

Three kinds of people keep telling me they have a book.

  • The pastor with a sermon series. You preached it. People asked for it. The recordings are sitting on a hard drive. That series is already a book; it just hasn't been typed.
  • The coach or counselor with a framework. You've walked fifty people through the same process. A book lets the next five hundred find you, and it makes the first meeting shorter.
  • The believer with a devotional or a testimony. Forty days of what God taught you in a hard season. The story of how He brought you back. You don't need a platform. You need it finished.

What this is not

Not a content mill, and not a template with your name dropped in. Not my theology under your byline. Not a machine writing a book nobody said out loud. Every chapter starts with your words, in your voice, and you approve every line before it prints. If a sentence isn't something you would say from the front of the room, it doesn't go in.

How it works

Three steps. Ninety days.

Most of your time is talking. Most of mine is writing, editing, and making it look like a real book. We meet by video. You never have to sit in front of a blank page.

1

A first call

Twenty minutes. What the book is, what you already have, and whether we're a fit. If it isn't a fit I'll tell you, and I'll tell you what I'd do instead.

2

We draw it out

Your sermons, notes, or outlines go in. If you have nothing written, we record a few conversations and that becomes the raw material. I build the outline with you, then write each chapter in your voice, and you read every one.

3

It ships

We edit together. I handle the interior, the cover, and the Amazon setup, under your own account, so the royalties and the rights are yours from the first day. Then we tell people.

Co-Written

I stay in the room.

$8,500

For the leader who wants a hands-on editor from the first outline to the launch week.

  • Everything in Drawn Out
  • I edit line by line, as many rounds as it takes
  • Structure and theology read by a second pair of eyes
  • Launch plan and thirty days of posts written for you
  • Weekly calls through the whole project
  • Two spots open at a time
Start with a call

Writing a devotional instead of a full book? Same three ways, shorter manuscript, priced on the call.

After the book, or instead of it

Voice: your words, every week, without the keyboard.

Once a month you leave me a twenty-minute voice note about what God has been teaching you. I turn it into twelve posts and one letter to your list, in your voice, ready to schedule. You read them, change what you want, and go back to the work.

$600 a month

Twelve social posts and one monthly newsletter, drafted from your own voice note. Month to month, no contract. For pastors who want a presence online without spending their study time on it, and for authors who need to keep talking after the book comes out.

Proof

What you're looking at.

The book

Seventy Times Seven is on Amazon in paperback, hardcover, and Kindle, with free study guides on this site. I built the whole thing, interior to cover, the way I'll build yours.

Thirty years of listening

Three decades in sales and technology taught me one skill above the rest: sit across from someone, ask the right question, and hear what they actually mean. That is most of ghostwriting.

This site

Every teaching, study guide, and page on 490.life came out of the same process you'll go through. Read a few. If the voice holds up, we'll get along.

Questions

The ones everyone asks.

Who owns the book?

You do. All of it. The manuscript, the files, the cover, the Amazon listing, and every dollar of royalty. It publishes under your own KDP account, which we set up together on a screen-share. I keep nothing but the memory of writing it.

Whose name is on the cover?

Yours. Ghostwriters have helped pastors and leaders write books for as long as there have been books. If you'd like "with David S. Jones" on the cover, I'm glad to be there. If you'd rather I stay invisible, that's the normal arrangement and I'm fine with it.

I have nothing written down. Can this still work?

Yes. That's what the Drawn Out tier is for. We record three conversations and I write the book from what you said. Most people find they have far more than they thought once someone asks the right questions.

How long does it take?

Ninety days from the first call to a live Amazon listing is the plan for a book. A devotional runs shorter. The main thing that slows a project down is a chapter sitting in your inbox unread, so we set review dates on the calendar at the start.

What about a devotional or a study guide?

Same process, shorter manuscript. Thirty, forty, or ninety entries, each with a passage, a reflection, a prayer, and a question. Priced on the call, and less than a full book.

How will it sound like me and not like you?

Because it starts with you. Your recordings, your sermons, your phrases, the translation you preach from. I build a page of how you actually talk before I write a line, and you read every chapter and mark anything that isn't you. By the third chapter people usually stop finding anything.

Do you use AI?

Yes, the same way I use a word processor and a recorder. It helps me transcribe, organize, and draft faster. It does not decide what the book says. You do, and I do, and every sentence is read by a human who loves the Lord before it reaches you.

What does publishing cost on top of this?

Nothing. Amazon KDP is free to publish on, the cover is included, and you buy author copies at print cost if you want them in your hands or on a table at church.
